Her dynamic consulting has benefited clients like the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), Koppers, and American Humane, delivering comprehensive DEI solutions ranging from executive advising to behavioral change strategies. 🌟 Julie M Chen is a consultant here at PTA and is also a PhD Candidate at the University of Akron in Industrial Organizational Psychology as well as the Director of Operations at Asian Mental Health Project. Julie has a research focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), specifically relating to microaggressions and elevating the voices of underrepresented populations. 🌟 Anthony Roberson is an Assistant Consultant at PTA and is currently a PhD Candidate at the University of Nebraska - Omaha, Anthony aspires to help organizations select, develop, and support a diverse array of leaders and create an inclusive and safe culture where every employee can thrive. 🌟 Abbey Salvas, PhD is an Assistant Consultant at PTA and has recently graduated with their PhD in Industrial Organizational Psychology from The George Washington University where their research focused on advancing inclusion in organizations, with a particular interest in LGBTQIA+ populations. DEI gets thrown around a lot, so we thought we would break down these terms’ meanings, which can often be conflated. ✨ 👉Diversity: how we see each other. An individual cannot be “diverse”, as diversity only exists at the group level. 👉Equity: elevating those who have been historically left behind. A path in equity means we are eliminating barriers or procedures that may prevent individuals from reaching their potential. 👉Inclusion: how we treat each other. Inclusion is all about BEHAVIORS. ✨ Shout out to our Triangle DEI Community ✨ Last week's gathering was a hit with around 30 attendees! We kicked off with exciting updates, including our group's rebrand and the launch of our new GroupMe chat and shared Google folder! Our discussions delved into important topics like defining our brand in DEI and the value of certifications in the field. Small group conversations sparked insightful perspectives on navigating this space. As always, we wrapped up with announcements - member milestones, job hunts, and exciting upcoming events like Activate Good's upcoming event on May 15 (where PTA CEO, Sertrice Shipley, will be a breakout speaker!) and the Raleigh Chamber conference in July!
