This week is Hurricane Preparedness Week, observed every year in May. As hurricane season rapidly approaches, we encourage you to take steps now to prepare. Safety begins before the threat is imminent! Be sure you have an evacuation plan and are stocked up with emergency supplies including medications and fresh water. Consider creating a communication plan so family and friends know you are safe. If you need materials to strengthen your home (plywood, shutters, sandbags etc.), purchasing them before a hurricane is predicted will ensure you have what you need when the time comes and avoid sold out materials. For more information on hurricane safety, check out our playlist on our YouTube: https://ow.ly/SYLm50RAOe6 #HurricaneStrong

The National Safety Stand-Down to prevent falls in construction is observed this week and raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries. Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 395 of the 1069 construction fatalities recorded in 2022 (BLS data). Those deaths were preventable. This week, we encourage you to take a break and hold a stand-down. You can discuss fall prevention, inspect equipment, or fill out a Job Hazard Analysis form with your team so everyone understands the importance of fall prevention on site. For more info, please check out our blog on fall prevention and let us know in the comments below how your team stays safe up high!
